About
Mechanical Bull is a video artwork that exhibits processed found footage of a mechanical bull and rider. The original footage, found on youtube, is processed using the software Max/MSP Jitter. All original video frames were randomly rearranged without duplication thus recreating the essence of the original. In other words, the observer can still witness the movement, shape and colors of the mechanical bull ride only in a more chaotic fashion. The artwork uses techniques unique to time based media, such as generation of random frames without duplication, to highlight the essence of a relatively simplistic action.
Video Sintesi
Mechanical Bull is part of a series of short video artworks called Video Sintesi. Sintesi refers to an Italian Futurist word used to describe a short experimental artwork. The series includes three works (Bowling, Mechnical Bull, Gymnastics) that place emphasis on video as a time based media. Each work uniquely processes individual frames of video to reinforce a simplistic action within the footage itself.
